Claudia was a patient of mine who has given me blanket permission to share her story. When I met her, she had suffered with severe depression for 40 years, requiring multiple medications. After we explored the Three Principles understanding Claudia recovered and went on to enjoy a happy, contented life. Witness her joy. Witness her husband’s joy. Witness the power of Claudia’s insight that she had access to so much more than her personal thinking.

Stories of Hope Series
These are stories of remarkable insight and healing across all diagnostic categories that I witnessed over nearly 40 years of clinical practice as a psychiatrist.
Spiritual consciousness is an awareness that we create our experience via Thought and that we have access to an innate spiritual wisdom. As spiritual consciousness evolves incrementally, fresh hope and mental well-being awakens in people labelled with diagnostic disorders.
Awakening spiritual consciousness brings psychological healing and incremental freedom from past painful experiences. Full recovery and wholeness are possible.
Hypomanic and manic episodes are frequently alternatives to suicide [and, at times, homicides] and are lifesaving because they keep the sufferer alive and get them help.
A person’s enduring maladaptive perceptions and behavior become healthier as they see that they create their experience and have access to an innate wisdom.
Psychosis can be seen as an alternative to suicide when a person innocently creates a world in their head that is too painful. Spiritual consciousness brings new solutions.
Suicidal thoughts and impulses occur when emotional and/or physical pain is experienced as unbearable, and people lose hope that change is possible.
Chronic mental stress plays a major role in creating chronic inflammation which manifests in a wide range of physical and psychological illnesses.

I worked with Dr. William "Bill" Pettit for a little over nine months. It was a deep human dive, and it was life changing.
I’ve been blessed with exceptional teachers like Eckhart Tolle, and Byron Katie, plus the book The Missing Link by Sydney Banks has sat on my nightstand for over a decade. Suffice it to say before working with Bill my emotional self has been truly met.
However, I was going through some massive upheavals in my life, and I knew I needed someone new, that bit was simple. The tricky bit was that I wanted to work with someone exceptional: a fierce person who wouldn't let me get away with, well, being me.
With an Asperger’s diagnosis, my brain works differently from many folks. Bill never once dismissed that or told me that my experience was just a thought.
Perhaps it’s his history in neuroscience and psychiatry but he gave my brain the respect she deserved. He could keep up with her, stimulate her, surprise her, shut her up at times, and engage her in ways unknown to me with any teacher before. I got to know her, my brain, my operating system, and I got to love her.
I cannot count the number of times, head in my hands, seeing something new I said, "Hang on a sec, Bill, let's go back, say that again."
Bill was able to do all this with such ease and grace and with never-ending amounts of love. It’s hard to put into words, even for a writer, the profundity of my experience working with Bill. I am a deeply intellectual person, and a deeply emotional person and Bill helped bridge the gap between them. Thank you, Bill, my brain and my heart are forever grateful.
“There is one Universal Mind, common to all, and wherever you are, it is with you, always.”

Stories of Hope Neurodiversity Series
Neurodiversity is not an illness!
Neurodiversity points to the natural variation and differences in neurological structure and function that exists among human beings.
Dr. Bill Pettit and Elizabeth Lovius discuss a neurodiversity diagnoses, specifically autism and Asperger’s syndrome, and are joined by a parent, who talks of her experience.
Dr. Bill and Elizabeth are joined by Gayle Nobel, author of Space of Love, a book about how her understanding of the Three Principles brought hope to her journey as parent.
Explores the rapid and creative ADHD brain processor. Elizabeth shares how her understanding of the Principles helped her to experience this processor as a gift.
Andrew McKee describes lifelong depression, distraction and hyperactivity. A workshop with the Drs. Pettit facilitated a dramatic shift in relationship ease and business success.
When I first heard someone speak of Dr. Bill Pettit, something inside me told me to do whatever I could to spend time with him. Events then unfolded that had me attending a seminar he facilitated with his lovely wife, Linda, called “Nothing Lacking, Never Broken. Overcoming PTSD using the Three Principles.”
When I walked into the room and met Dr. Pettit, that thing inside me that had guided me there once again spoke to me and told me that this man knew something I didn’t know. That feeling inside me was right. He did know something I didn’t know at the time. His compassion, understanding, wisdom and experience, along with his very rare level of gentleness and kindness, helped guide me to experiencing an understanding that would transform the way I experienced life and my ability to help others do the same.
I would strongly encourage anyone who has the opportunity to spend time with Dr. Pettit to commit to embracing that opportunity. I cannot put into words the gratitude I feel for having done that myself.
